This is the first painting that I learned how to do the glazing technique. I first painting it in shades of burnt umber, then glazed over it in color.

This is the painting where I learned to paint what I saw as opposed to painting an object. I could not make the fruit sit on the blue cloth, which I also could not get to look right. I spent hours one day nose to painting just painting the colors and shapes in an attempt to get it to work. My daughter walked in the room and told me to stand up and walk away, see what I had done.

This one was really challenging. The cloth the bowl is on is actually a towel that my parents had. Trying the get the shapes and texture of the towel was particularly challenging!

As part of my study of Paul Cézanne I painted his "The Basket of Apples." Although not 100% exact, it was a great study and I learned a lot. (nfs)
This is the last complete painting I did in my Painting 1+2 class at Honolulu Museum of Art. I had been taking this class for years, but classes were canceled mid-semester due to the pandemic.
